LAGOS TO BREAK NEW GROUND AS AFRICA’S FIRST HOST CITY FOR THE E1 ELECTRIC BOAT RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Lagos State is set to carve its name into history as the first African city to host a race of the world-renowned UIM E1 World Championship — the premier electric powerboat racing series organized by the PIF (E1) Series.

Scheduled for October 4th and 5th, 2025, this landmark event will see Lagos’s iconic waterways transformed into a thrilling arena for the world’s top electric boat racers, reinforcing the city’s status as a global player in innovation, sustainability, and sports development.

Known for its rich culture, thriving tech ecosystem, and robust economic landscape, Lagos offers an ideal coastal setting along the Atlantic Ocean to stage the championship, reflecting Africa’s growing influence in the global push towards clean energy and technological advancements.

Speaking on the upcoming event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described Lagos’s selection as a major triumph for the state’s progressive vision:
“This is a proud moment for Lagos. Hosting the E1 World Championship amplifies our commitment to innovation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development. It also reaffirms our place on the global stage as a city that drives change and embraces future-forward initiatives.”

E1 CEO Rodi Basso also emphasized Lagos’s strategic importance to the championship’s expansion during a recent interview with Forbes.com, stating,
“Bringing the E1 series to Lagos represents a pivotal step for the sport and our sustainability mission. Lagos is a city alive with energy, innovation, and a spirit of progress. It provides the perfect setting to spark global conversations on clean technology and inspire the leaders of tomorrow.”

Preparations for the historic event are already in motion, with the Lagos State Government collaborating closely with the E1 organizers to ensure a flawless execution.
