The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, on Tuesday, April 30, 2025, empowered dedicated party members with economic tools to enhance their livelihoods, in a bid to appreciate long-standing loyalty and commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The empowerment ceremony, which held at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, was part of a broader skill acquisition and empowerment programme targeted at supporting fashion designers and small-scale entrepreneurs within the region.
Hon. Wasiu Adesina, while addressing attendees, noted that the gesture was a token of appreciation to party members who have shown unwavering loyalty to the APC over the years.
He stated that the administration remains committed to grassroots development and the economic empowerment of its people.
Significantly, the wife of the council chairman, Mrs. Abolanle Adesina, also played a key role in the planning and execution of the empowerment program.
Her active involvement added a human touch to the event and demonstrated the administration’s inclusive approach to community support and welfare.
During the event, two notable beneficiaries were recognized and presented with key empowerment tools.
Mr. Owen Dawodu, a prominent party stalwart, received a fully-equipped computer set to support his business, while Alhaja Kawusara Aleja was presented with a high-capacity deep freezer to enhance her entrepreneurial activities.
Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Owen Dawodu said, “I am deeply grateful to Hon. Wasiu Adesina for this support. This computer set will greatly enhance my work and improve my productivity. It shows that loyalty is truly rewarded, and I’m proud to be a committed member of this great party.”
Similarly, Alhaja Kawusara Aleja expressed joy over the deep freezer, stating, “This is a big relief for my business. With this deep freezer, I can preserve my goods better and expand my trade. I sincerely thank our Chairman and his wife, Mrs. Abolanle Adesina, for their thoughtfulness and generosity. May God bless them abundantly.”
The items were formally handed over by Hon. Rotimi Ogunleye, a respected political figure and former Commissioner for Commerce, Industry & Cooperatives, as well as for Physical Planning & Urban Development in Lagos State.
Ogunleye lauded the council’s initiative and emphasized the importance of recognizing loyalty and investing in the economic stability of party members.
“This is not just an empowerment exercise, it is a show of gratitude and a call for continued dedication to party values and service to our community,” Ogunleye stated.
The empowerment event also featured training sessions and the distribution of materials to support fashion designers in the council area, demonstrating the council’s ongoing commitment to skill acquisition and sustainable development.
Hon. Wasiu Adesina assured that more empowerment programmes would be rolled out in the coming months, targeting various sectors to alleviate poverty and promote self-reliance among residents.
The ceremony was attended by party leaders, community stakeholders, council officials, and beneficiaries who expressed gratitude for the government’s gesture.
