The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, has commenced Employability Skills Training at five established Job Centres across the state, starting with Ikorodu, in a bold step to tackle youth unemployment and foster economic growth.
The Job Centres, strategically located in Ikorodu, Ikeja, Badagry, Lagos Island, and Epe, were created to serve as accessible hubs where job seekers can receive career guidance, counseling, and training tailored to meet the demands of the modern workforce.
The Employability Skills Training ran simultaneously across all five centres, offering unemployed graduates a robust learning experience designed to prepare them for managerial-level job expectations in both the private and public sectors.
The training covered vital soft skills such as effective communication, teamwork, CV writing, problem-solving, and leadership development.
A total of 500 unemployed graduates benefitted from the program, which marks a significant milestone in the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to reduce unemployment and build a resilient, job-ready youth population in Lagos.
Speaking at the various centres, officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable development through youth empowerment, noting that the Job Centres would continue to serve as resource points for Lagosians seeking to improve their employability.
The Ministry urges more job seekers to take advantage of these training opportunities as it continues to partner with stakeholders to expand access to employment support services across the state.
