
The Lagos State House of Assembly has ratified the appointment of several key individuals nominated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu into strategic commissions and agencies of the state government, strengthening institutional frameworks and service delivery across Lagos.
The ratification took place during Thursday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, following the successful screening exercise carried out by the House’s Ad hoc Committee on Screening of Nominees, led by Hon. Mojeed F.A., representing Ibeju-Lekki I.
Approved Appointments:
Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC)
Prince Adewale Taorid Ojora was approved as a Member of LASIEC, contributing to the commission’s mandate of conducting credible and transparent elections at the local government level.
Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission
Engr. Abimbola Odubiyi – Chairman (Non-Executive)
Mr. Tunde Gbajumo – Non-Executive Member
Animashaun Fouad Olayinka – CEO/Executive Member
Barr. Kofo Olokun – Executive Member
Oluwaseun A. Fadare – Executive Member
These appointments are poised to enhance regulatory oversight and improve energy distribution across the state.
Lagos State Civil Service Commission
The Assembly approved a five-member team to oversee human resource policies and uphold meritocracy in the state’s public service:
Mrs. Dapo-Thomas Bolade
Mr. Fatai Olalekan Lasisi
Mr. Afolabi Olatunji Sobowale
Mr. Rufus Adekoya Adedapo
Mr. Lateef Yahaya
Office of the Public Defender (OPD) Governing Council
Mr. Jide Badmos – Reappointed for another four-year term
Ms. Yinka Shitta-Bey – Reappointed for another four-year term
Both appointees were commended for their past contributions to legal aid and justice for underserved populations in Lagos.
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to ensuring that all appointed individuals meet the ethical and professional standards necessary for effective governance.
“These approvals demonstrate our commitment to strengthening the machinery of government through capable leadership and institutional continuity,” Obasa said.
