On May 2nd, 2025, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioned a modern Deputy Sheriff Warehouse in Ikorodu, marking a significant step towards strengthening the efficiency and credibility of the judicial system in Lagos State.
The newly inaugurated facility is designed to securely store properties tied up in ongoing court cases, especially those pending appeal or awaiting final verdicts.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the warehouse represents a strategic intervention to address long-standing issues around the mishandling, misplacement, and undocumented storage of disputed items. According to him, such challenges have often led to unnecessary delays and confusion in legal proceedings.
“This facility was created to securely store and protect properties tied up in court cases, especially those still undergoing appeal or waiting for final rulings,” the Governor stated. “In the past, these items were often mishandled or lacked proper documentation. With the warehouse, they’ll be kept safe, professionally managed, and easily traceable until the courts reach a final decision.”

The Governor noted that the facility was built with modern security systems, detailed inventory management protocols, and controlled access for only authorized personnel. These features, he explained, would help prevent loss, tampering, and administrative bottlenecks, while also providing a transparent trail for judicial review.
“With this project, we’re helping reduce backlogs, prevent confusion, and ensure that justice isn’t delayed by poor logistics,” Governor Sanwo-Olu added.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting the rule of law, stating: “Lagos will always strive to set the pace. We are building systems that reflect our values—transparency, accountability, and a deep respect for the rule of law. This is another step toward a more efficient, equitable, and respected judicial process in our state.”
The event was attended by senior judicial officials, members of the Lagos State Executive Council, legal practitioners, and representatives of the Ikorodu community, all of whom applauded the initiative as a major stride toward judicial reform in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
Also in attendance were His Royal Majesty Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom; His Royal Majesty Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom; Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM); and Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA.
The Deputy Sheriff Warehouse in Ikorodu is expected to serve all judicial divisions within the state, further strengthening the infrastructure that supports Lagos State’s robust legal system.
