DR. AGBAJE ASSURES COMPLETION OF 1.3KM EGBEYEMI AND ALHAJA AGBAJE STREET ROAD PROJECT IN IKORODU WITHIN ONE YEAR ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, led the official flag-off of the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road along Monsuru Egbeyemi and Alhaja Agbaje Streets in the Poromosan community of Ikorodu Local Government Area, marking a significant step toward enhancing rural infrastructure in Lagos State.

The road construction project, when completed, will serve four Community Development Associations (CDAs): Irebami CDA, Winners Estate CDA, Winners Estate Phase 2 CDA, and All Saints CDA—communities that are expected to experience improved accessibility, enhanced safety, and expanded commercial potential.

Dr. Agbaje, while addressing members of the press after the flag-off ceremony, described the project as a transformative intervention under the THEMES Plus agenda of the current administration, which places a premium on inclusive governance and rural development.

“This administration is committed to ensuring that no community or individual is left behind. This road project is a testament to that commitment,” he stated.

The 1.3km road, with a width of 7.3 metres, will feature modern amenities, including properly channelled drainage systems, culverts, outfall drains, kerb painting, and lane markings. To boost security and nighttime visibility, 1000-watt solar-powered streetlights will also be installed along the road corridor.

Dr. Agbaje emphasized the broader impact of the project, noting that beyond improving mobility and reducing travel time, the road will unlock new economic opportunities and encourage business growth in the area.

Highlighting similar interventions in the Ikorodu Division, Dr. Agbaje referenced ongoing road constructions in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA (Ayubu/Bashorun Road) and Ijede LCDA (Ilupeju Street and Ama Street), stressing that the rural development drive remains a priority for the Sanwo-Olu administration.

He appealed to residents to support the successful execution of the project by cooperating with the contractors and embracing a sense of ownership.

“We expect the residents to key into this project. There will be opportunities for work and supply. We encourage you to protect this project and ensure its success,” he said.

Dr. Agbaje also called on the CDC Secretary, Alhaji Lookman Sonibare, to take an active role in sensitizing the community and fostering collaboration with the project team.

To ensure quality delivery, he disclosed that the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Office of Rural Development will supervise the project throughout its lifecycle, guaranteeing that the one-year timeline for completion is met without compromise.

Dr. Agbaje instructed the contractors to work closely with the CDAs and engage local youths as part of the implementation strategy—further deepening community involvement and creating economic ripple effects through the duration of the project.

Several dignitaries and community leaders were present at the flag-off ceremony.

Among them were Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State; Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and the Office of Rural Development; Hon. Waheed Animashun, APC Party Chairman, Ikorodu Central; Alhaji Lateef Afini, Secretary of Ikorodu Local Government, who represented the Executive Chairman of Local Government, Hon.
