LAGOS CPWB SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTRY TO BOOST CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE AWARENESS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (CPWB) has sought the support of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development to promote its programmes across the state’s grassroots leadership structure, in a strategic move to bolster awareness and participation in Christian pilgrimage activities.

During a courtesy visit to the Ministry, the CPWB delegation led by its Secretary, Dr. Gbolabo Okudero expressed the Board’s intention to directly engage with the local government and local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairmen through their regular monthly meetings facilitated by the Ministry.

“We deeply appreciate the pivotal role your Ministry plays in coordinating LGA and LCDA affairs,” Dr. Okudero stated. “We hope to leverage this platform to gain access to the Honourable Chairmen, seeking their support in championing our pilgrimage programmes and creating stronger awareness at the grassroots level.”

Dr. Okudero also proposed a sensitisation session for staff of the Ministry, aiming to encourage participation in the spiritual journey among public servants. He noted that the CPWB’s visits to various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) are part of a deliberate outreach strategy.

“Many public servants may not be fully informed about the spiritual, emotional, and organisational benefits of our well-structured pilgrimage services. That’s why we are proactively visiting MDAs—to drive awareness, which in turn fuels participation,” he explained.

He encouraged staff members to act as informal ambassadors within their churches and religious communities by sharing accurate information about the pilgrimage opportunities facilitated by the board. Dr. Okudero also assured that the Board remains open to invitations from churches and fellowships for further engagement and sensitisation.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa commended the Board’s initiative and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration in alignment with the broader vision of the Lagos State Government.

She assured the CPWB of the Ministry’s willingness to facilitate access to key stakeholders, including chairmen of LGAs and LCDAs. “Our mandate goes beyond local government affairs to include chieftaincy matters and rural development. We will ensure other relevant stakeholders within our jurisdiction are also engaged to support the CPWB’s noble objectives,” she stated.

The visit highlights the CPWB’s continued efforts to expand its reach and deepen spiritual engagement among Lagosians through inclusive, coordinated, and impactful pilgrimage activities.
