IKORODU, LAGOS – MAY 19, 2025 —
The Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat came alive with glitz, gratitude, and grandeur as Alhaja Rashidat Bello, the Special Adviser on Women Affairs to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, marked her 43rd birthday in a spectacular celebration attended by dignitaries, political stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters from across the Ikorodu Division.
Held on Monday, May 19, 2025, the event reflected unity, growth, and appreciation for the successes recorded under the leadership of Hon. Adesina as his second term gradually winds down.
The celebration showcased Alhaja Bello’s deep commitment to social empowerment, particularly for women, and emphasized the importance of gratitude and grassroots connection in public service.
Demonstrating her consistent dedication to uplifting the vulnerable, Alhaja Bello empowered 10 women, including single mothers and widows drawn from different wards in the local government, with N50,000 each to support their micro-enterprises and economic resilience.
This noble act further solidified her image as a champion of women’s welfare and social equity in Ikorodu.
In her heartfelt address, she said, “This day is not just about me—it is about giving back, about touching lives, and about remembering the road that brought me here. My journey has been one of grace, and this is my way of sharing that grace with others.”
A key highlight of the celebration was the presentation of honorary awards to notable personalities who have made significant contributions to the advancement of Ikorodu Division. Honourees included:
Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas – Ikorodu Woman of Impact Award
For impactful leadership and contributions to women development and sustainability.
Hon. Wasiu Adesina – Ikorodu Champion of Community Development
For advancing community pride, cultural heritage, and cohesive development initiatives.
Deaconess Busola Isikalu – Ikorodu Community Empowerment Award
For her dynamic civic engagement among market stakeholders and dedication to community building.
During her emotional speech, Alhaja Bello reflected on her humble beginnings, attributing her rise in public service to divine favour and the unwavering support of Hon. Wasiu Adesina, whom she described as a mentor, father figure, and bridge builder.
She also acknowledged the support of council officials and grassroots party members who have enabled her succeed both as Special Adviser and as the youngest APC woman leader in Ikorodu Division, affirming her loyalty to the party and to women empowerment across board.
Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, APC Chairman in Ikorodu LGA, commended her dedication to the grassroots and praised the Chairman for supporting socially beneficial initiatives.
Deaconess Busola Isikalu, Iya-Oloja General of Ikorodu Division, described the celebrant as “a loyal and consistent asset to the market community and the party.”
