LAGOS FACILITATES 12 PUBLIC TOILETS IN RURAL COMMUNITIES TO TACKLE OPEN DEFECATION — DR. AGBAJE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Office of Rural Development has facilitated the construction of 12 public toilet facilities across various rural communities as part of efforts to combat open defecation in the state.

This was revealed by Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development.

He made the disclosure shortly after his office handed over a newly constructed public toilet and water system to leaders of the Ilogbo-Eremi Kingdom in Badagry Local Government Area.

Dr. Agbaje explained that the initiative is in line with the state government’s ongoing commitment to improving hygiene, promoting public health, and enhancing the quality of life for residents in rural areas.

“The Office of Rural Development has successfully facilitated 12 public toilet projects in underserved communities to address the pressing issue of open defecation.”

“This effort reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision for inclusive rural development and environmental sanitation,” Dr. Agbaje stated.

He noted that such interventions are part of a broader strategy to ensure that all citizens, regardless of their location, have access to basic sanitation infrastructure.

The statement comes on the heels of a recent key handover to community leaders of Ilogbo-Eremi, who received a new public toilet and water facility facilitated by the ministry through the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Department.

The Lagos State Government continues to implement impactful rural development projects aimed at improving living standards and fostering sustainable, healthy communities across the state.
