On May 25, 2025, the Elemu Social Base Club received official recognition from the Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The presentation of the certificate, held at Elemu Bus Stop, marked a significant milestone for both the club and the wider Elemu community within Ijede LCDA.
With this recognition, the Elemu Social Base Club is positioned to serve as the collective voice of its people—championing unity, engaging in political discourse, and prioritizing the community’s interest above individual ambitions.
Representing the Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, at the ceremony, was the Head of the Department for Agriculture and Social Services, Alhaji Sofiu Babatunde.
He was joined by other notable council officials, including Mrs. Funmilayo Eyinju, Mr. Idris Opeyemi Yusuf, who is the Community Development Officer, Comrade Taiwo Tijani Faruq, and Chief Jamiu Agbaje, the Joint CDA Chairman of Elemu.
During his address, Alhaji Sofiu Babatunde emphasized the importance of community-based groups like the Elemu Social Base Club in promoting unity, development, and peace.
He urged the newly recognized club to uphold its constitution, foster cooperation among members, and maintain transparency in its leadership.
According to him, the leaders of the club must be committed to serving the people and leading with integrity.
Speaking on behalf of the club, Mr. Adewale Vincent, President of the Elemu Social Base Club, expressed appreciation to the council for the recognition.
He explained that the formation of the club was motivated by the long-standing marginalization of the Elemu community, especially in the areas of basic infrastructure and representation in local governance.
He described the club as a platform to give the people of Elemu a stronger voice and to work with government authorities in addressing their needs.
Mr. Vincent also noted that the community is filled with capable individuals willing to contribute to the development of Ijede LCDA.
He mentioned that the club already has a councillorship aspirant from Elemu, which he said demonstrates their readiness to participate in governance and decision-making processes.
He concluded by assuring that the club is committed to bringing positive change and making the community proud.
A key part of the event was the swearing-in of the club’s executive members, who received their certificates from Alhaji Babatunde.
The executive team includes Mr. Atande Adewale as President, Mr. Akintola Olarewaju as Secretary, Mr. Olatunji Oladayo Samson as Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Ajao Adenike as Welfare and Secretary Organizer, Mr. Tijani Kazeem as Financial Secretary, Mr. Amuni Abiodun Adekunle as Treasurer, Alhaja Olowokere Risikat Omotolani as Golden Woman of the Club, and Mr. Ishola Oladimeji as Golden Governor of the Club.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Ishola Oladimeji described the club as one with a humanitarian focus, aiming to bring smiles to the faces of residents through selfless service.
He noted that the recognition by Ijede LCDA is only the beginning of a bigger journey for the Elemu community, as the club is committed to real progress and community upliftment.
