IKEJA ELECTRIC SPARKS JOY, LITERACY, AND SAFETY IN SCHOOLS WITH ‘STORYTIME MAGIC ’ ON CHILDREN’S DAY ~ INN Nigeria ☆

In commemoration of the 2025 Children’s Day celebration, Ikeja Electric Plc, Nigeria’s leading electricity distribution company, made a memorable impact by visiting three primary schools across Lagos to inspire, educate, and empower young minds through a captivating session tagged ‘Storytime Magic.’

The event, held at Role Model School (Oregun), Rivergate Model Academy (Iju-Ishaga), and Kith & Kin Montessori, Nursery & Primary School (Ikorodu), focused on boosting reading culture, safety awareness, and values-based education in children, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education.

Led by the #GiveBackAlways (GBA) employee volunteer team of Ikeja Electric, the initiative featured storybook readings, safety talks, and generous donations of children’s literature to each school’s library.

The books read included The Broken Pot, The Stolen Yams, The Talking Tree, The Cooking Contest, and Folktales are Forever—all authored by Mrs. Efe Fafinre, founder of Linking Hands Foundation.

Speaking during the event, Mrs. Folake Soetan, CEO of Ikeja Electric and Matron of the GBA initiative, emphasized the need for sustained societal support for vulnerable children.

“More than ever before, we all need to deploy tangible and intangible resources periodically to supplement family and governmental efforts, fast-track the achievement of SDGs, and reduce the negative effects of social media drastically where the children are concerned,” she said.

Each participating school expressed heartfelt appreciation for Ikeja Electric’s presence and generous contributions.

Mr. Adebanjo Olusegun, Head of Kith & Kin Montessori School, remarked:

“Ikeja Electric is the first ever DisCo to visit our school. Your presence lit up the hearts of our children and created memories they will cherish. The time, energy, and warm-hearted support are unparalleled. We look forward to more future collaborations.”

At Rivergate Model Academy, Mrs. Kemisola Alabi appreciated the hands-on engagement and the values-driven storytelling experience:

“The interactive session and storytelling reinforced the positive values we instill in our children. It was touching and meaningful. This shows the value Ikeja Electric places on compassion and community.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Mr. Adeyinka Adedoyin, Deputy Head of Role Model School, described the initiative as exemplary:

“Just like us, Ikeja Electric is a model organisation—setting the pace in the power sector and in digital transformation. We commend their efforts in supporting academic values and helping children leverage technology for global competitiveness.”

The 2025 Children’s Day outreach is part of Ikeja Electric’s broader corporate social responsibility framework aimed at empowering host communities, promoting quality education, and reinforcing child safety and well-being.

By investing in initiatives like ‘Storytime Magic,’ the company continues to demonstrate leadership not just in power distribution but in building a brighter, more literate future for Nigeria’s next generation.
