DEMOCRACY DAY: DR. AGBAJE CELEBRATES RURAL LAGOSIANS, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

As Nigeria marked its annual Democracy Day on June 12, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, extended warm greetings and commendation to residents of rural communities across the state.

In a goodwill message released on the 12th of June 2025 to commemorate the day, Dr. Agbaje described Democracy Day as a moment of reflection, appreciation, and renewed dedication to the democratic values that uphold the rights, inclusion, and dignity of all citizens—regardless of their location.

He stated, “Democracy Day is not just a national celebration, it is a reaffirmation of the people’s power, unity, and resilience. Today, I celebrate the hardworking and peace-loving people in our rural communities whose contributions to the state’s development cannot be overstated. You are not left behind in the journey of progress and shared prosperity.”

Dr. Agbaje emphasized that the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu remains steadfast in ensuring that every Lagosian enjoys the dividends of democracy, particularly those in remote and underserved areas.

He applauded the patience, cooperation, and democratic spirit of rural dwellers, highlighting their importance in sustaining a participatory and inclusive governance structure.

“Democracy thrives where people feel heard, seen, and valued. This is why we continue to engage our rural populations, giving voice to their needs and aspirations. As we celebrate today, let us also renew our collective commitment to peace, accountability, and responsible citizenship,” he added.

He concluded his message with a call for unity, civic responsibility, and community involvement, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved when government and citizens work hand-in-hand in a secure and democratic environment.

Dr. Agbaje wished all Lagosians, especially those in rural areas, a joyful and reflective Democracy Day celebration.
