As Nigerians commemorate Democracy Day, the Leader of the Legislative Chamber in Ikorodu Local Government and Chairmanship aspirant, Hon. Adebowale Adebola Ajayi, has extended warm felicitations to the citizens of Nigeria, commending their resilience and commitment to democratic ideals.

In a statement released on June 12 to mark the annual celebration, Hon. Ajayi, popularly known as AJ, praised Nigerians for their unwavering belief in democracy and their continued participation in shaping the nation’s future through civic engagement and peaceful advocacy.

“Today, we celebrate not just the return of democratic governance in Nigeria, but also the enduring spirit of our people who have stood firm in defense of freedom, justice, and good governance,” Hon. Ajayi said.

“Democracy Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by patriots, especially the heroes of the June 12 struggle, to ensure that the voices of Nigerians are heard and respected.”

The lawmaker used the occasion to urge Nigerians to reflect on the journey so far and remain hopeful for a better and more inclusive democratic process. He called for national unity, peaceful coexistence, and a collective commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

“As we commemorate this important day, let us renew our faith in the democratic process and in the future of our great nation,” he continued.

“We must continue to uphold the values of accountability, transparency, and service to the people.”

Hon. Ajayi also reiterated his vision for inclusive and people-oriented leadership in Ikorodu Local Government, stating that his aspiration to serve as Chairman is anchored on the principles of equity, progress, and grassroots development.

“Democracy is meaningful only when it translates into better lives for the people. That is what I stand for, and that is what I promise to continue to uphold,” he affirmed.

He concluded his Democracy Day message with a call for continued prayers for Nigeria’s leaders at all levels, encouraging citizens not to relent in their patriotic duties and contributions to national growth.
