IDPIL UNVEILS 2025 SCHOLARSHIP AND BURSARY PLANS TO EMPOWER MORE STUDENTS ACROSS IKORODU DIVISION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) Scholarship Committee has officially announced the commencement of its 2025 Scholarship and Bursary Award application process during a press briefing held at its secretariat.

The registration period, which began on May 1st, will run through June 30th.

Launched in 2022, the IDPIL Scholarship and Bursary Scheme has continued to make impactful strides in promoting education and supporting students within the Ikorodu Division.

To date, 655 beneficiaries—comprising both indigenes and residents—have received financial support totaling ₦30 million.

The initiative, designed to foster peace and community development through education, underscores IDPIL’s unwavering commitment to human capital development and a brighter future for the youth of Ikorodu Division.

The 2025 press briefing was attended by prominent personalities, including Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola; Professor Abatan Fatai (Scholarship Program Consultant); Mr. Hassan Taiwo; Alhaji Lukman Shonibare; and Engr. Olufemi Kalejaiye.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola emphasized that IDPIL, a non-governmental organization (NGO), is committed to promoting peace, security, healthcare, environmental protection, education, and overall community welfare.

“For peace to reign, education is a key factor. That is why IDPIL, under the leadership of Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, has invested heavily in the educational development of our youths,” she stated.

Hon. Akinshola elaborated on the three structured categories within the scholarship scheme to ensure inclusivity based on academic performance:

Scholarship Category: For students in 200-level and above with a minimum CGPA of 4.50. Each beneficiary will receive ₦200,000 annually until their final year, provided they maintain the required GPA.

Bursary Category: For students with a CGPA of 3.50 and above, eligible for ₦100,000 to support their academic journey.

Third-Level Bursary: For students with a CGPA of 2.00 and above, who will receive ₦50,000 as encouragement to improve their performance.

She applauded the committee’s effort in easing financial pressures on parents and guardians while also fostering academic excellence.

Professor Abatan Fatai, who serves as the consultant on the scholarship program, commended IDPIL’s dedication to education. He clarified that the scheme is strictly for students of public universities in Nigeria who are indigenes or verified residents of Ikorodu Division.

Prof. Fatai also outlined the rigorous screening and selection process to ensure merit-based awards. After registration, applicants will undertake an aptitude test to validate their academic records.

Additionally, each applicant must present verifiable proof of indigene or residency status—such as a LASRRA card or a letter of confirmation from a recognized community authority.

“We are focused not only on providing financial support but also on mentoring and training these students for long-term impact. This is about shaping a generation that can contribute meaningfully to society,” he added.

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and fairness in the selection process, promising that the 2025 edition would build on past successes while expanding its outreach.

They also praised the visionary leadership of Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, whose dedication to educational upliftment has turned the scholarship scheme into one of IDPIL’s most impactful interventions.

The IDPIL Scholarship and Bursary Program continues to serve as a vital tool for peacebuilding, social welfare, and community development through educational empowerment.
