The Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government and National Chairman of the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria, Aarebirin Hon. (Dr.) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, has extended warm birthday felicitations to the Ìyál’ọ̀jà General of Lagos, Chief (Mrs.) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo.
In a heartfelt statement, she also paid glowing tribute to the revered late market leader, Alhaja (Dr.) Abibat Mogaji, twelve years after her passing.
Describing Folashade Tinubu-Ojo as a “torchbearer of market leadership and cultural pride,” Princess Folashade-Oba lauded her for her continued commitment to the welfare of market traders and her motherly role across Lagos and beyond.
“You are not just the Ìyál’ọ̀jà General of Lagos, but a true daughter of heritage, leading with grace, purpose, and courage.”
“Your leadership keeps the legacy of your beloved grandmother alive, and your birthday today is a celebration of that enduring flame,” the Ikorodu Vice Chairman stated.
The tribute also honoured the late Alhaja Abibat Mogaji, who passed away on June 15, 2013.
A titan of grassroots mobilization and one of Nigeria’s most revered market leaders, Iya Abibat Mogaji served as the President-General of the Association of Nigerian Market Women and Men.
Her enduring legacy, Folashade-Oba noted, laid the foundation for women’s empowerment and economic inclusion across generations.
“Iya Abibat Mogaji was not just a market leader — she was a movement. Her legacy of resilience, honesty, and dedication to the masses remains a guiding light to all of us in leadership and service,” said Princess Folashade-Oba.
Princess Folashade-Oba, who also serves as the Global Director-General of the Asiwaju Distinguished Ambassadors Movement (ADAM) and the Grow Ikorodu Now Movement, emphasized the importance of preserving legacies like that of Iya Abibat Mogaji while supporting leaders like Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo in advancing women’s socio-economic inclusion.
She concluded her message with prayers for greater wisdom, strength, and longevity for the Ìyál’ọ̀jà General, and eternal rest for the late matriarch.
