IKORODU – June 18, 2025 — In a gathering that underscored the synergy between state government initiatives and grassroots development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, addressed community stakeholders at the Annual Community Development Committee (CDC) Congress of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
Dr. Agbaje, who was specially invited to the congress, used the opportunity to speak on the significance and visible impact of the Office of Rural Development, established under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
He highlighted that the office has been instrumental in transforming rural communities across the state through a series of approved, ongoing, and completed projects.
“These interventions — ranging from the distribution of transformers and the construction of roads to the implementation of water schemes — are geared towards improving the quality of life for residents in underserved areas,” Dr. Agbaje noted.
“Ikorodu West LCDA is among the many communities that have directly benefitted from these impactful projects.”
The Special Adviser commended Governor Sanwo-Olu’s unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, describing him as a visionary leader who prioritizes development that reaches the grassroots.
As the local government elections approach, Dr. Agbaje urged residents and community leaders to reflect on the benefits they’ve received under the current administration by coming out en masse to support and vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He emphasized that electoral support is not just a political gesture but a strategic step toward ensuring continuity of good governance and further grassroots transformation.
“Ikorodu plays a significant role in the electoral landscape of Lagos due to its large voting population,” he said.
“A strong show of support from this division will send a clear message that the people are aligned with the vision of progressive governance — and it will motivate Mr. Governor to do even more.”
The CDC Congress witnessed the presence of several prominent stakeholders, including Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA; Alhaja Kausara Ajayi, Chairperson of the AGM Committee; and Mr. Abiodun Dare Sunday, CDC General Secretary, who all reiterated their commitment to community development and continued collaboration with the state government.
