As Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, celebrates his 60th birthday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has paid glowing tribute to the Governor’s exceptional leadership, particularly his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of rural dwellers across the state.
Dr. Agbaje described the milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the impactful strides the Governor has made in promoting inclusive development and bridging the gap between urban and rural communities.
In his goodwill message, Dr. Agbaje recalled his appointment in 2023 by Governor Sanwo-Olu to lead the Office of Rural Development.
He noted that the Governor immediately provided an enabling and collaborative platform for the Office to align with the THEMES Plus agenda, thereby opening up new avenues for meaningful engagement with rural communities and the delivery of essential projects.
Since then, the Office has actively keyed into the administration’s broader goals by implementing various development initiatives across Lagos’ rural axis.
Dr. Agbaje noted that under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration, rural communities have experienced unprecedented improvements in infrastructure and service delivery.
Through various strategic interventions, many underserved areas now enjoy better access to electricity through the distribution of high-capacity transformers, improved road connectivity following the construction and rehabilitation of key access roads, access to clean water via newly installed water scheme projects, and enhanced security and night-time visibility through solar-powered streetlight installations.
These efforts, he said, are practical demonstrations of the Governor’s vision for equitable development across all parts of the state.
He added that the positive feedback from beneficiaries across rural communities is a testament to the administration’s success in fostering development that touches lives directly.
Residents of these areas, according to him, have continued to express deep appreciation for the Governor’s determination to close the development gap and ensure that no community is left behind.
Dr. Agbaje emphasized that Governor Sanwo-Olu’s approach to governance has inspired a renewed sense of hope and belonging among rural dwellers who previously felt disconnected from state-led progress.
He affirmed that the Governor’s foresight and commitment to rural transformation is laying a strong foundation for future administrations to build upon.
As the Governor marks his 60th birthday, Dr. Agbaje, on behalf of the entire Office of Rural Development, offered heartfelt congratulations and prayers for continued strength, wisdom, and grace.
He praised Governor Sanwo-Olu as a visionary whose leadership continues to set Lagos on a path of greatness, not only within Nigeria but also on the African continent and beyond.
He concluded by reaffirming the Office’s readiness to continue working tirelessly under the Governor’s leadership to sustain the momentum of development in rural areas and to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of the state.
