The Lagos State Office of Rural Development has officially commended Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency II, for his consistent commitment to grassroots development and economic empowerment.
This commendation came on the heels of the successful implementation of the AMA POS Empowerment Scheme, a signature initiative of the AMA Smile Foundation, which directly tackled poverty and unemployment in the constituency.
The empowerment event, held on the 27th of June 2025 at the Golden Event Centre, Oke-Eletu in Ijede LCDA, drew stakeholders from across Ijede, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, and Imota LCDAs, creating a landmark moment in the constituency’s developmental history.
During the event, 180 unemployed residents were empowered with fully activated Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, registered CAC business names, and ₦100,000 in support funding—with ₦50,000 preloaded in the POS terminals and ₦50,000 disbursed in cash.
Additionally, 150 existing POS agents and small-scale entrepreneurs each received a ₦100,000 cash grant to enhance and expand their businesses.
The Office of Rural Development, represented by Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, lauded the initiative as a sustainable, practical response to poverty alleviation and youth empowerment.
In his goodwill remarks, Dr. Agbaje described Hon. Aro as “the true definition of quality representation,” emphasizing his relentless efforts to ensure that tangible development reaches the grassroots.
“Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun is always on the neck of the Lagos State Governor, persistently advocating for projects and interventions to be executed across his constituency,” Dr. Agbaje noted.
“From infrastructure provisions like transformers and road construction to programs such as this, he has demonstrated that leadership is about action and results. His brand of politics is deeply rooted in compassion, responsiveness, and community engagement.”
The Office emphasized that the empowerment program did not merely offer temporary relief through financial assistance but provided sustainable tools for entrepreneurship and long-term development—transforming beneficiaries into self-reliant business owners and stimulating local economic growth.
