In its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and community hygiene, the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club undertook a waste bin evacuation project at ADRAZ Delicious Eatery, located at the entrance of the Federal Low-Cost Housing Estate in Ikorodu, on Friday, June 27, 2025.
The project, which forms part of the Club’s continuous environmental service initiatives, was aimed at ensuring the proper disposal and management of plastic waste materials within the locality.
The strategic location of the waste bin near a busy eatery highlights the club’s proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility among residents and business owners.
The activity was spearheaded by dedicated members of the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, including: Lion Akinosho David Peace JP NLCF (Charter President); Lion Kayode Aluko NLCF (Service Chairperson); Lion Fuad Alapafuja NLCF (Membership Chairperson); Intending Lion Owolabi Lukman; and Intending Lion Anthony Peter.
Speaking during the evacuation, Lion Akinosho David emphasized the club’s commitment to health and safety through proper environmental practices.
“Our club prioritizes community cleanliness. Waste, especially plastics, must be managed effectively to prevent environmental degradation and to promote public health,” he stated.
The evacuated waste plastics will be processed through recycling channels, aligning with the club’s broader goal of reducing pollution and promoting eco-friendly habits.
The initiative also supports the club’s youth empowerment drive, as recyclable plastics can be converted into economic opportunities for young people engaged in waste collection.
The Club’s Service Chairperson, Lion Kayode Aluko, further noted that the initiative is part of a long-term project targeting several identified high-traffic locations across Ikorodu.
He called on residents to join the cause by properly disposing of waste and supporting clean-up efforts.
This intervention at ADRAZ Delicious Eatery stands as another example of Lions Club International’s “We Serve” motto in action—creating real-time impact through simple, consistent community engagement.
As Ikorodu continues to grow in population and business activities, such environmental service projects remain crucial to ensuring a healthier, cleaner, and more livable community for all.
