The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, on June 30, 2025, commissioned the Jeitan Ultra-Modern Mini Market at Ota Ona, built by the local government for official use by residents and traders, in a significant milestone signalling the commencement of his week-long legacy project commissioning.
The market, originally conceived as an initiative to organize commercial activities within the Ota Ona axis, was renamed “Jeitan Ultra-Modern Mini Market” by Hon. Adesina during the commissioning ceremony.
The project comprises 45 lock-up shops designed to provide a serene and secure environment for small businesses and traders within the Ikorodu Central vicinity.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Adesina expressed pride in fulfilling a long-standing promise tied to the land, which was donated to the local government in the 1950s by the Great Grand Patriarch Andu family, represented by the Jeitan Lapawiyan descendants.

He thanked the family for their unwavering support in allowing the government to bring the project to fruition.
“When I came onboard, I noticed that residents were informally trying to create their own market in this area. I knew it was time for us to step in and build a proper one for the people,” Hon. Adesina stated.
“This market stands as a fulfilment of a decades-old promise, and I am honoured to be the one to deliver it,” he added.
The council boss also recalled his administration’s transformation of the popular Sabo Market in Ikorodu, which he converted into a standard marketplace upon assuming office.
He used the opportunity to reflect on his tenure in office, describing his nearly ten-year journey in service as “record-breaking.”
“I began as Executive Secretary in 2015, and by God’s grace, I have served two full terms as Chairman. I have served Ikorodu diligently and with sincerity,” he remarked.

“For the first time in our history, Ikorodu Local Government will witness a formal transition of leadership from one administration to another,” he noted with pride.
Hon. Adesina urged market users to cooperate with the local government in managing the affairs of the new marketplace, promising continuous support for business growth and local enterprise.
He expressed gratitude to the residents of Ikorodu Local Government for their steadfast support, which, he said, enabled the success of his two terms in office.
The commissioning event was graced by key stakeholders in the Ikorodu community, including:
Deaconess Busola Isikalu, Iya-Oloja General of Ikorodu Division, who praised the project as a unique legacy of Hon. Adesina’s administration.

Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, Chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), commended the Chairman’s commitment to infrastructural development.
Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, Chairman of the APC Ikorodu LGA, also applauded Hon. Adesina for his visionary leadership and service to the community.
The commissioning of the Jeitan Ultra-Modern Mini Market officially sets the tone for a series of developmental projects scheduled to be unveiled during the Chairman’s final days in office, marking a celebratory end to his impactful administration.
