The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, has received widespread praise within the Ikorodu education sector for facilitating the completion of a new block of four classrooms with two modern toilet facilities at African Bethel Primary School, Ikorodu — a commendable effort that has also drawn the attention of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB).
The newly constructed edifice, described by the council boss as a legacy project, was completed within six months and stands as a testament to the chairman’s continuous efforts to improve learning conditions across the community.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, was presided over by Dr. Abdul Hakeem Shittu, the Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), alongside other key stakeholders in the education sector.
In a heartfelt address during the event, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, the newly appointed Education Secretary of the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), commended Hon. Adesina and his team, stating:
“This project is a beacon of hope because this is a place where dreams are achieved. I sincerely appreciate the chairman and his dedicated team, who have worked consistently with him for the past eight years to ensure education is prioritized.”
Recalling his personal connection to the school, Alhaji Odumbo added:
“Once upon a time, I was a student here. It is quite ironic and deeply symbolic that my very first official assignment as Education Secretary is to be part of this great event in the same school I attended.”
The newly commissioned classroom block is expected to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils, reduce classroom congestion, and promote hygiene and sanitation through its integrated modern toilet system.
This school project marks the third day in a week-long series of legacy projects being rolled out by Hon. Adesina, as his administration gradually winds down.

The series began with the commissioning of the Jeitan Ultra-Modern Mini Market at Ota Ona along Obafemi Awolowo Road, followed by the unveiling of the Adekayaoja-Solomade Road project, which was officially commissioned by His Royal Majesty Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom.
Parents, teachers, and community leaders — including the school administrator, Mrs. Fatola Abosede Mary — expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Adesina’s administration commended his unwavering dedication to grassroots development and sustainable education reforms.
With this project, Hon. Wasiu Adesina further solidifies his legacy as a proactive leader invested in securing the future of Ikorodu’s children through functional infrastructure and quality learning environments.
