
Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, formally commissioned five impactful community projects on Monday in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in a significant stride towards grassroots transformation.
The handover ceremony, warmly received by residents, traditional rulers, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbogbo-Baiyeku, was a testament to Senator Abiru’s dedication to inclusive, developmental representation.
The commissioned projects, facilitated by the Senator and officially handed over through the council’s leadership under Bldr Sesan Daini, included:
The full reconstruction of the 1-kilometre Agunfoye Road, complete with drainage systems; A brand-new Primary Health Centre at Igbe Laara, designed to provide accessible healthcare services; Rehabilitation of classroom facilities at Methodist Primary School, Ibeshe; A newly constructed block of classrooms at UAMC Primary School, Eleja, Igbogbo; and Renovation of classrooms at Local Government Primary School, Igbe Laara.
Representing Senator Abiru at the event, Hon. (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola, former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for Ikorodu Constituency II, affirmed that the projects reflect the Senator’s unwavering commitment to purposeful governance.
“These projects go beyond physical infrastructure—they restore dignity, enhance accessibility, and foster opportunity,” Akinsola quoted Senator Abiru as saying.
She urged the communities to take ownership of the facilities, emphasizing the importance of proper maintenance and sustainability to ensure their longevity and continued benefit to future generations.
The commissioning event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries including the traditional ruler of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba (Barrister) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, and top Ikorodu leaders such as Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, and other stakeholders.
At Methodist Primary School in Ibeshe, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe, HRM Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, expressed gratitude to Senator Abiru for his exceptional leadership.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, who represented his father, Prince Ogunleye, praised the Senator’s performance as a source of pride for Lagos East.
Former Lagos State Head of Service, Otunba Adesegun Ogunlewe, and High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo, echoed similar sentiments, describing Senator Abiru as a “silent achiever whose works speak louder than words.”
Meanwhile, in Lekki LCDA, Senator Abiru also recently delivered new health and education projects, including a newly built and fully equipped Primary Health Centre in Akodo-Ise and an upgraded health facility in the Folu community.
Additionally, classroom blocks at Lepia Primary School and Olomowewe Primary School were refurbished and furnished to meet modern educational standards. These projects were handed over to the administration of Engr. Rasaq Kasali, Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA.
Speaking on behalf of the Senator at the Lekki event, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, Media Aide to Senator Abiru, reiterated the Senator’s commitment to ensuring equitable development across all 16 LGAs and LCDAs in the Lagos East Senatorial District.
According to Olukotun, the Senator’s legislative agenda is anchored on addressing urgent community needs in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and digital innovation.
Communities in the Epe Division, including Ibeju-Lekki, Lekki, Eredo, Ikosi Ejirin, and Epe, continue to benefit from Senator Abiru’s interventions, which span the construction of modern markets, youth centres, and the ongoing development of the SAIL Innovation Lab and Sports Complex in Orimedu, Ibeju-Lekki—a facility poised to serve as a hub for digital technology and athletic excellence.
