“LET’S MAKE A COLLABORATIVE SYNERGY” — IKODASS CHAIRMAN HOSTS OSHODI ARTS GALLERY CEO, EYES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR IKORODU OGA DAY ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Dr. Oshodi Seyi Paul, the CEO of Oshodi Arts Gallery, was hosted by the Chairman of the Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Alhaji Kolawole Fatai Ogunfodunrin, at the IKODASS Secretariat, Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall, on July 10, 2025, in a move poised to elevate the traditional and cultural celebration of the Ikorodu Oga Day Festival.

The strategic meeting focused on creating a collaborative synergy between IKODASS and Oshodi Arts Gallery—widely recognized as the second-largest art collection centre in Nigeria.

According to Dr. Oshodi, the intention of the visit was to explore ways in which the Gallery could contribute to and be featured in the week-long Ikorodu Oga Day celebrations.

Dr. Oshodi highlighted the immense cultural value of his gallery’s collections, emphasizing that its involvement would bring vibrance, prestige, and artistic depth to the festival.

“Our gallery is rooted in Ikorodu, and it is only ideal that we are recognised as part of the Ikorodu Oga Festival, which remains a major platform for showcasing the traditional and cultural heritage of our people,” he stated.

He also noted that art is a universal language that speaks to identity, history, and continuity—values that the Oga Day Festival equally promotes.

“We strongly believe that our involvement can make the celebration more colourful and extravagant, aligning art with culture in a visually compelling way,” Dr. Oshodi said.

Responding positively, IKODASS Chairman Alhaji Kolawole Fatai Ogunfodunrin described the partnership as a welcome development, asserting the association’s openness to creative collaborations under the new administration.

He stressed the importance of integrating innovative ideas and artistic expressions into the planning and execution of the annual cultural event.

“This is a new administration, and we’re open to collaborating with creative bodies to make the Ikorodu Oga Day celebration more unique and memorable,” Alhaji Kolawole said.

“Also, we want it to project our cultural heritage like never before—so let’s see how this synergy works out.”

The meeting concluded with mutual optimism, with both parties agreeing to further develop frameworks for the collaboration in the coming weeks.

If successful, the partnership is expected to set a new standard for cultural festivals in Lagos State, fusing tradition with contemporary art in ways that will leave a lasting impact on visitors and residents alike.
