A total of twenty-seven young participants have successfully graduated from the 5-day Skill-for-Life Training Workshop, an initiative organized by the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club in collaboration with Oshodi Art Gallery, aimed at empowering youths with creative and entrepreneurial skills.

The graduation ceremony, held on 15th July 2025 at the Oshodi Art Gallery, marked the official conclusion of the week-long training which began on the 10th of July.

The workshop focused on five creative disciplines — Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Photography, Sculpture, and Textile Design — with practical sessions conducted daily from 10:00 AM.

During the closing ceremony, each of the twenty participants received certificates of participation as official beneficiaries of the impactful training program.

The event was attended by Lions Club officials, volunteer trainers, members of the newly inaugurated Ikorodu Peculiar Leo Club, and family members of the graduates.

Lion Dr. Oshodi Seyi Paul, President of the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club and visionary behind the project, described the graduation as a proud moment and reaffirmed the Club’s commitment to youth development.

“Seeing these young people complete their training and take this bold step toward creative entrepreneurship means a lot to me. This being my first project as President, I’m grateful we could make a tangible impact,” Dr. Oshodi said.

Lion Fuad Alapafuja, the Club’s Service Chairperson, emphasized the long-term goals of the project.

“This is not just about art — it’s about employability, reducing unemployment, and helping young people create their own income streams through acquired skills,” he noted.

Immediate Past Service Chairperson, Lion Kayode Aluko, also addressed the graduates, encouraging them to take full advantage of the skills they have gained.

“The Lions Club stands for service to humanity. We believe that with the right tools and support, you can build meaningful futures,” he said.

Among the graduates were Nweke Sopulu Pascal and Stella Amechi, both of whom trained in Drawing and Painting. They expressed deep appreciation to the Club and the trainers for what they described as a life-changing experience.

“I’ve learned so much in just five days. I’m committed to turning this into a career,” said Pascal.

“This training has opened a door for me. I plan to pursue painting as a business from here on,” added Stella.

The atmosphere at the gallery was filled with excitement as some of the creative works produced during the workshop were also showcased, giving attendees a glimpse into the talent and potential of the graduates.

With this successful edition, the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club has reaffirmed its dedication to community development and youth empowerment through impactful service projects.

The graduation ceremony concluded with a group photograph, applause, and a renewed call for continuous support for youth-centered initiatives.
