The Lagos State Government has officially unveiled the Eko Digital Training programme in Ikorodu and Iba, through the Ministry of Tertiary Education, in a bold move to empower its youth with relevant 21st-century skills.
This transformative initiative reaffirms the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to fostering education, innovation, and entrepreneurship among young people across the state.
The five-day intensive training, scheduled to run from July 28 to August 1, 2025, will take place simultaneously at two fully-equipped locations: the Iba ICT Centre, Iba Town, Iba LCDA in Ojo (Badagry Division), and the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) CBT Centre, Ikorodu Town Hall.
Designed with precision, the Eko Digital Training programme offers a dynamic blend of digital literacy, emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial development, and an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI).
Participants will gain practical knowledge and access to modern tools critical for navigating the increasingly digital and competitive global economy.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ikeja on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule emphasized the Sanwo-Olu-led administration’s enduring drive toward educational innovation and excellence.
He described the training as a “tangible manifestation” of the government’s resolve to elevate the standard of learning and skills acquisition among Lagos youth.
“This programme offers a strategic curriculum that aligns with global trends. We are not just teaching skills, we are building future-ready minds,” Hon. Tolani noted.
He further highlighted that the training centres in Iba and Ikorodu are equipped with state-of-the-art learning facilities, manned by seasoned instructors, and tailored to create an atmosphere conducive for impactful learning and personal development.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr. Adeniran Kasali underscored the programme’s long-term significance in advancing socio-economic development and youth inclusion in Lagos State.
“This digital training is the bedrock for building a more prosperous and globally competitive economy. It’s about enhancing lives, creating job opportunities, and positioning our youth for leadership in the digital age,” he said.
Kasali extended a heartfelt invitation to young people in Iba and Ikorodu to seize this opportunity, describing the training as an open door to free, high-quality digital education with immense career and personal development prospects.
The Iba and Ikorodu editions of the Eko Digital Training follow earlier successful implementations in Yaba, Agege, and Epe — a clear testament to the Lagos State Government’s strategy of inclusive and continuous investment in education and skills development as a vital solution to youth unemployment and poverty alleviation.
With the rollout of this forward-thinking programme, the Lagos State Government is once again leading the charge in digital transformation, offering a new generation of Lagosians the tools and knowledge to innovate, create, and compete on the global stage.
