In a strong show of appreciation and continuity in governance, Hon. Safari Murisiku Akinni, the newly elected Councillor representing Ward C in Ikorodu Local Government, has lauded the former Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, for his outstanding infrastructural legacy, particularly the recent construction and commissioning of key roads in the community.
The projects, which include the Ita-Elewa/Itumaja Road and the Abunale/Itunla and Ajina Road, were officially commissioned on the 25th of July, 2025, just before Hon. Adesina concluded his second term after eight years of meritorious service as Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government.
Speaking during a community interaction, Councillor Aroso described Hon. Adesina as a leader with unparalleled commitment to grassroots development.
He praised the quality and scope of the roadworks, which featured dual-sided drainage systems and the installation of street lights to enhance safety and accessibility.
“Hon. Wasiu Adesina’s legacy in Ikorodu is etched in concrete and steel. His commitment to delivering lasting infrastructure is second to none. With the construction and commissioning of these roads, history has written his name in gold,” Aroso declared.
The newly completed road networks are expected to greatly ease vehicular and pedestrian movement, reduce flooding during rainy seasons, and boost economic activities in the Ita-Elewa, Itumaja, Itunla, Abunale, and Ajina communities.
Residents have also expressed gratitude to the outgoing chairman for prioritizing road infrastructure as part of his final actions in office, noting that the projects reflect his consistent efforts to improve the living standards of the people of Ikorodu.
As Hon. Aroso begins his journey as the Councillor for Ward C, he emphasized his intention to build on the developmental strides laid down by his predecessor and ensure that the ward continues to benefit from responsive and impactful representation.
The road commissioning event marks a fitting end to Hon. Adesina’s tenure, highlighting a legacy of transformation, accountability, and visible progress that has redefined governance at the local level in Ikorodu.
