LASG LISTS 176 ILLEGAL ESTATES, ISSUES 21-DAY DEADLINE FOR LAYOUT APPROVALS IN ETI-OSA, IBEJU-LEKKI, AJAH, AND EPE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Government has released a list of 176 illegal estate developments operating without official layout approvals, issuing a 21-day ultimatum to their owners to regularise their status in line with state planning regulations.

The estates, predominantly located in Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe, were identified in a document published by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development on Monday.

They were classified as illegal for failing to obtain mandatory layout approvals, a breach that the government says undermines the state’s sustainable development drive and its T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.

Some of the listed estates include Adron Homes, Elerangbe; Aina Gold Estate, Okun-Folu; Diamond Estate, Eputu; Prime Water View Garden, Ikate Elegushi; and Royal View Estate, Ikota, among others.

Speaking on the development, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Engr. Oluwole Sotire, stated that the ministry will not compromise on its mandate to ensure orderly and sustainable development in Lagos.

He said the identified estate owners must, within 21 days, submit the necessary documents to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, to process their layout approvals.

“This exercise is a routine function of the Ministry, in line with our mandate to regulate the development of public and private estates in Lagos State. We are committed to fostering a functional, organised, and resilient smart city, as envisaged in the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda,” Sotire explained.

The Permanent Secretary also urged all developers and real estate practitioners to register with the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), which is responsible for regulating, coordinating, and monitoring real estate activities across the state.

The government’s action is aimed at curbing indiscriminate estate developments, protecting public interest, and ensuring that all new residential and commercial layouts comply with approved urban planning standards.

Failure to comply within the given period could attract sanctions, including possible sealing of illegal developments.
