The highly anticipated Free Summer Coaching Programme organized by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega, officially kicked off on Monday, 18th August 2025, at D-TEE Tutors, located at 6, David Sholarin Street, Behind Total Filling Station, Benson, Ikorodu.

The commencement ceremony was marked by a special visit from Hon. Ladega, who was warmly received by students, teachers, parents, and community members.

He was accompanied by Hon. Babawale Alogba, Vice Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, the Head of Department for Education, and other senior officials from the local government secretariat. Their presence brought an official seal of endorsement and inspired confidence in the programme’s sustainability.

In his address to the students, Hon. Ladega passionately spoke about the transformative role of education, urging the learners to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies.

“This free summer coaching is not just about passing exams. It’s about shaping your mindset for success, learning discipline, and making your parents proud through hard work and sacrifice.”

“I am a living witness to what education can do. If you’re willing to put in the effort, you can achieve anything,” Hon. Ladega said, drawing loud applause from both students and parents.

The programme, which runs from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, provides free coaching in key subjects such as English, Mathematics, Basic Science, and other core disciplines.

The initiative is open to all students across Ikorodu, particularly those preparing for promotional and external examinations. It aims to bridge academic gaps, boost performance, and strengthen foundational knowledge for future success.

Parents present at the venue praised the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention to keep children engaged positively during the long vacation while easing financial burdens on families.

Teachers also expressed enthusiasm, noting that the programme would help instill discipline and encourage a culture of learning beyond the classroom.

For the students, the opening day was filled with excitement and hope. Many described the programme as a rare opportunity to learn from experienced tutors without financial constraints. The presence of the Executive Chairman himself further motivated them to take the coaching seriously and give their best efforts.

The launch on August 18th therefore set the tone for weeks of structured academic engagement. By providing an enabling environment for young learners, Hon. Ladega and his administration have once again demonstrated their commitment to nurturing human capital development in Ikorodu Local Government.
