The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, has joined sons and daughters of Ikorodu and the Yoruba race worldwide in celebrating this year’s Isese Day, a festival dedicated to honoring the cultural heritage, values, and traditions of the Yoruba people.
In a goodwill message released to mark the occasion, Prince Ladega described Isese Day as more than just a date on the cultural calendar, but rather a sacred invocation of the Yoruba spirit, a solemn remembrance of roots, and a vibrant celebration of existence.
“My dear people of Ikorodu, sons and daughters of Oduduwa, and all lovers of culture, Isese o! Today, my heart swells with immense pride and joy as we collectively celebrate Isese Day, a day deeply woven into the fabric of our identity,” the council boss expressed.
He emphasized that Isese represents a fundamental duty of remembrance and reflection, urging all Yoruba people, particularly the younger generation, to recognize the values of respect, community, and spiritual balance passed down by their forebears.
“To know where you are going, you must never forget where you came from. Our traditions are the bedrock upon which we build our future, a future of progress that is informed by the wisdom of our ancestors,” Ladega stated.
Encouraging active participation in the celebrations, the Ikorodu council chairman charged residents to engage with open hearts and reflective minds while showcasing the beauty of Yoruba culture through dignity, color, music, and an unwavering communal spirit.
He prayed for blessings, peace, and prosperity upon the people of Ikorodu and the Yoruba nation at large, affirming that this year’s Isese festival would herald greater advancement and harmony.
“Ọdún yìí yóò jẹ́ ti ìtẹ̀síwájú àti àlàáfíà. Àsé,” he concluded.
