The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, on Tuesday, actively participated in the Annual Interactive Session 2025 of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Ikorodu, held at the Local Government Secretariat hall.
The event, which drew together community leaders, stakeholders, and representatives of government agencies, was held under the theme: “LASERA, Environment, Security, INEC, and Ikeja Electric.”
In his remarks, Dr. Agbaje highlighted critical issues essential for grassroots development, beginning with the need for proper land administration and property rights awareness under the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA). He stressed that effective land management reduces disputes and fosters orderly community growth.
On environmental sustainability, the Special Adviser called on CDAs to intensify efforts in maintaining cleaner communities and adopting practices that support environmental conservation, noting that community health and aesthetics directly affect overall quality of life.

Speaking on security, Dr. Agbaje emphasized the importance of community collaboration with security agencies to safeguard lives and property, adding that effective intelligence sharing between residents and law enforcement remains vital in preventing crime.
He also encouraged grassroots citizens to be active participants in electoral processes through the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that robust civic engagement is the bedrock of effective representation and inclusive governance.
Turning to energy concerns, Dr. Agbaje underscored the significance of a reliable power supply from Ikeja Electric as a critical driver of socio-economic growth and development in Ikorodu and Lagos State at large.
Reaffirming the support of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration, Dr. Agbaje assured the gathering that the state remains deeply committed to the activities of Community Development Associations (CDAs).

He explained that this commitment informed the open-channel policy that enables CDAs and residents to direct their complaints and challenges to the Lagos State Office of Rural Development for swift government intervention.
Also, in attendance were Hon. Adedayo Ladega, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, ably represented by Hon. Bisiriyu Alogba, Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government; Elder Durosinmi Yekinni Ishola, Chairman, CDC Ikorodu LG; Mrs. Alimi Olushola Sarah, HOD, Agric & Social Services; Alhaji Lookmon Sonibare, among others.
Dr. Agbaje’s participation at the session reinforced the Sanwo-Olu administration’s focus on community inclusion, grassroots engagement, and sustainable rural development as a cornerstone of Lagos State’s development agenda.
