The Managing Director of Primero Transport Services Limited (PTSL), operators of one of Nigeria’s largest Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, Mr. Fola Tinubu has called for deeper collaboration between government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and the media to advance sustainable public transport operations in Nigeria.
Tinubu made this call while speaking at a Roundtable session organized by the Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP), themed: “Leadership Insights with Fola Tinubu: Driving Growth through Strategic Partnership.”
The engagement, which drew together transport and media stakeholders, focused on addressing infrastructural bottlenecks and policy challenges in Nigeria’s transport sector.
Sharing his leadership experiences steering Primero TSL’s BRT operations in Lagos State, Tinubu underscored that sustainable growth in the transport industry cannot be achieved in isolation.
According to him, overcoming Nigeria’s infrastructural deficits and navigating its regulatory complexities requires strong partnerships between government institutions, private operators, and other critical stakeholders.
“Growth within the transport sector is inseparable from collaborative efforts among government entities, private operators, and other key stakeholders,” Tinubu emphasized.
He maintained that a coordinated approach would not only strengthen transport operations but also improve service delivery for millions of commuters who depend daily on public transport systems like the BRT.
Tinubu further highlighted the influential role of the media in shaping public understanding and influencing government policies that impact the transport industry.
He urged media professionals to continue playing their advocacy role responsibly, bridging the gap between operators, policymakers, and the commuting public.
The CONMMEP Roundtable provided an opportunity for dialogue on the future of public transportation in Nigeria, with stakeholders aligning on the need for policies and business models that can deliver efficient, affordable, and sustainable mobility solutions across the country.
