LAGOS STATE FLAGS OFF 200-METRE SANNI STREET ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN IFELODUN LCDA ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, officially flagged off the construction of a 200-metre road on Sanni Street in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), marking another milestone in its drive to improve road infrastructure across rural and semi-urban communities.

The Sanni Street project is part of ongoing interventions by the Office of Rural Development aimed at addressing decades-old challenges of poor road networks, flooding, and inadequate lighting in underserved areas.

Residents of Amukoko and Musafejo communities, who have long endured difficulties in mobility and commerce due to the poor condition of the street, expressed optimism that the new road will transform their daily lives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, announced that the project is being executed through the Office of Rural Development and is scheduled for completion within six months.

Dr. Agbaje further revealed that the project will not only deliver a quality road but will also include the installation of solar-powered streetlights to improve visibility and enhance security for residents at night.

He explained that the initiative followed the recommendation of Hon. Lookman Olumo, Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Budget and Appropriation, and representative of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency I.

According to him, Hon. Olumo proposed the road for construction in recognition of the community’s strong electoral support for the ruling party, a commitment which Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to fulfill.

Hon. Olumo, in his remarks, appreciated the Lagos State Government for approving the project and commended Dr. Agbaje for his efforts.

He further urged the Special Adviser to extend more rural development projects to Ifelodun LCDA, ensuring that residents benefit significantly from state infrastructural interventions.

Also in attendance, the APC Chairman in Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Babalola Aderemi Olalakan; former Executive Secretary and Apex Leader of the LCDA, Hon. Adigun Wahab; and the Mayor of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, lauded the project, describing it as a timely intervention.

The Chief of Staff to the Ifelodun LCDA Chairman, Mr Ayinde Bolaji who spoke on behalf of the chairman, also commended both Hon. Olumo and Dr. Agbaje for facilitating the road construction.

Grassroots leaders, including the Community Development Association (CDA) Chairman, Rasheed Abayomi of the Amukoko Musafejo communities, and the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Alhaji Bolaji Jimoh, expressed gratitude to the government for addressing the long-standing need for accessible roads.

Engineer Seun Orekomaya, the project manager overseeing the construction, disclosed that the drainage system accompanying the road will measure 7.5 by 7.5, ensuring effective flood control and durability of the infrastructure.

The flag-off ceremony reinforced the Lagos State Government’s ongoing commitment to rural development and community-focused governance under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
