A day of empowerment and development unfolded in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, as Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, presented ₦100,000 each to the best graduating vocational trainees.
The initiative was sponsored by Hon. Lukman Olumoh, Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation and Member representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The cash presentation, which fulfilled an earlier promise made by Hon. Olumoh, popularly known as Olumo ni Koko, coincided with the official flag-off of the 200-metre Sanni Street road construction project in Ifelodun LCDA.

The event brought together community leaders, party members, youth groups, and residents, who commended the lawmaker for combining human capital empowerment with infrastructural development.
The ten beneficiaries, drawn from different skill categories, were recognized for their outstanding performance during the training programme.
Each received ₦100,000 as seed capital to support their entrepreneurial journey.
They include: Alimot Mustapha (Tie and Dye); Omilabu Deborah (Phone Repairs); Okpaleke Samuel (Digital Marketing); Adekeye Ayomide (CCTV Installation); Kareem Abiodun Usman (Electrical Electronics); Abdulrouf Olawale (Catering); Isiaq Motunrayo (Make-Up); Rafiu Babatunde (Graphic Design); Ayuba Kamarudeen (Barbing); and Bolaji Omolara (Presentation).

To further recognize the dedication of those who facilitated the training sessions, Hon. Olumoh also awarded ₦50,000 each to the facilitators, ensuring that their contributions to skill development did not go unnoticed.
In a special highlight, Dr. Agbaje personally gifted an additional ₦100,000 to Bolaji Omolara, who gave a moving and inspirational presentation after receiving her initial prize.
The gesture sparked cheers from the crowd, further highlighting the government’s encouragement of creativity and excellence.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Olumoh emphasized that vocational empowerment remains a central part of his constituency agenda.

He noted that by equipping young people with practical skills and financial backing, unemployment can be reduced while creating new streams of livelihood within the community.
Dr. Agbaje, while commending Hon. Olumoh’s foresight, assured residents that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to a balanced approach to governance — one that prioritizes both infrastructure and human capital development.

He described the initiative as a model for sustainable community growth, urging other leaders to replicate similar efforts across the state.
The dual event — vocational empowerment and the flag-off of the Sanni Street road construction — was lauded by community stakeholders as a testament to responsive representation and government-community collaboration.
