Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, on Thursday, 11th September 2025, inspected the ongoing 1.3-kilometer Monsuru Egbeyemi Street project in Idiroko, Ikorodu Local Government.
The inspection focused on the road’s drainage system, which is currently under construction as a preparatory phase ahead of the full road development.
According to project handlers, the drainage work is critical to ensuring durability and sustainability of the road once it is completed.

Dr. Agbaje noted that the project is part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s commitment to rural infrastructure renewal across the state.
He emphasized that effective drainage systems remain a priority in Lagos road projects, especially in flood-prone communities like Idiroko.
“This administration is determined to deliver roads that last, and that begins with proper drainage.”
“Once this stage is completed, the road construction will follow without delay,” Dr. Agbaje stated during the visit.
The Special Adviser also reaffirmed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, through the Office of Rural Development, will continue to support underserved areas of the state with critical infrastructure upgrades.
Alhaji Lookman Sonibare, the CDC Secretary, who was also present during the inspection, expressed optimism that the project would bring much-needed relief to motorists and pedestrians who have long endured the difficulties of navigating the flood-prone corridor.

He further noted that the inspection represents another step in the state government’s broader agenda to open up rural communities in Ikorodu Division through road development and other key infrastructure initiatives.
