The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and the Office of Rural Development, on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, convened its annual stakeholders’ interactive meeting for Ikeja Division at the Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat.

The meeting, presided over by Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Rural Development, and Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, focused on strengthening grassroots governance and enhancing service delivery across communities in the division.

Discussions centred on critical issues such as voter registration exercises, dissemination of government policies at the community level, identification of pressing local needs, and measures to improve electricity supply under Ikeja Electric.

Dr. Agbaje, in his remarks, urged stakeholders to familiarize themselves with the Community Development Association (CDA) law books, stressing the need for effective leadership and adherence to due process.

He further charged grassroots leaders to ensure that the forthcoming elections into CDA executive positions produce proactive, diligent, and honest representatives who will drive meaningful development within their communities.

“Grassroots leadership must reflect transparency, accountability, and commitment to the people they serve,” Dr. Agbaje emphasized.

Also in attendance was the Executive Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Hon. Adedeji Bukola Omope, alongside community leaders and representatives of CDAs across the Ikeja Division, who collectively pledged to intensify efforts in supporting government initiatives while advocating for improved service delivery in their respective communities.

The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to deepening collaboration with community stakeholders as a vital channel for policy implementation and sustainable rural development across Lagos State.
