LADEGA LAUNCHES MOHAMMED AJAYI STREET RECONSTRUCTION TO BOOST ACCESS, DRAINAGE IN IKORODU ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Ikorodu Local Government has commenced the reconstruction of Mohammed Ajayi Street in Sabo, a 450-metre artery behind the Ikorodu Cemetery, in a project designed to ease flooding and open up economic opportunities for residents.

Executive Chairman Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega broke ground on the project Thursday, framing it as part of his administration’s S.E.E.D. agenda—Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare and Development.

Ladega said the new road will feature reinforced drainage and a durable surface to withstand heavy rains.

The initiative follows concerns raised during the council’s Ward-to-Ward Listening Tour, where residents highlighted the street’s poor state and frequent flooding.

“We are translating the voices of our people into action,” Ladega told a crowd of party leaders, councillors, community elders and traditional authorities.

“This is about practical, people-focused infrastructure that stands the test of time.”
Notable officials at the ceremony included

Vice Chairman Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, Majority Leader and Ward A Councillor Hon. Idris Shokunbi, Leader of the 7th Legislative Arm Hon. Wasiu Shotomiwa, and the local party chairman, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun.

Residents welcomed the long-awaited upgrade, saying it will improve daily movement and raise property values.
