“2025 WILL SHOWCASE THE POWER OF GRASSROOTS ACTION ” — DR. AGBAJE AS LAGOS PREPARES FOR NEXT COMMUNITY DAY ~ INN Nigeria ☆

LAGOS, NIGERIA — Lagos State is already stirring with anticipation for the 2025 Community Day celebrations, the annual showcase of grassroots achievement and community-driven development.

The event has become a hallmark of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s push to strengthen Community Development Associations (CDAs) and foster partnerships that bring infrastructure, electrification, and water projects to every corner of the state.

“2025 will showcase the power of grassroots action. Our communities continue to prove that when residents take ownership of development, the entire state moves forward,” said Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development.

2023 set a high standard when Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu attended the Ikeja celebration in person.

Greenland Estate (Eti-Osa East), Royal Estate (Egbe-Idimu), and Elepe Royal Estate (Ikorodu) each won 18-seater buses for exemplary projects, while Araromi CDA (Ibeju-Lekki) was named Best Rural Community.

Several other CDAs earned ₦500,000 consolation prizes for their grassroots impact.

The momentum carried into 2024, themed “Stronger Together: Building a Resilient Community.”

Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat represented the governor, presenting top awards to 1st Progress Estate (Ayobo-Ipaja), Harmony Estate (Ifako-Ijaiye), and Alapako Community Estate (Olorunda).

Hilltop CDA (Eredo) claimed the coveted Best Rural Community prize, while ten more communities each received ₦500,000.

The upcoming edition in 2025 is expected to draw even greater participation, with residents and CDA leaders looking forward to bigger rewards and stronger government support.

Dr. Agbaje reaffirmed that the event remains a rallying point for citizen-driven progress.
“Community Day is not just a ceremony; it’s a movement. We will continue to reward innovation, collaboration, and self-help projects that inspire a Greater Lagos,” he said.
