LUGBUSI COMMUNITY HAILS SANWO-OLU AS LAGOS COMMISSIONS Water SCHEME WITH GENERATOR SUPPORT ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Residents of Joy Estate, Peace Estate, and Unique Estate in Lugbusi, Ikorodu, have lauded Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, following the commissioning of a water scheme project that promises to end years of water scarcity in the community.

The facility, delivered on Saturday, October 4, 2025, came with a brand-new generator to ensure uninterrupted supply.

The project was formally presented to the community by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje.

He explained that the initiative forms part of the Lagos State Government’s broader rural infrastructure agenda, designed to provide essential amenities to underserved communities across the state.

“Access to potable water remains a major challenge in many rural and peri-urban areas. This intervention is one of several water schemes currently being executed across Lagos to improve the standard of living of our people,” Dr. Agbaje said while addressing residents.

For years, Lugbusi residents have relied heavily on private boreholes, water vendors, and long treks to distant streams, a situation that community leaders say has been both costly and unsafe.

With the new water scheme, they believe the health, hygiene, and economic well-being of households will significantly improve.

Receiving the project on behalf of the community were Engr. Giwa Idris, Vice Chairman of Lugbusi CDA; Mr. Abe Johnbull, Chairman of Joy Estate; and Mr. Babatunde Awolesi, Chairman of Peace CDA.

In his remarks, Mr. Johnbull described the project as a “lifeline” for residents.

“This commissioning is not just about water, it is about dignity and improved quality of life. For years, we have hoped for government intervention, and today, Governor Sanwo-Olu has shown that he listens and acts,” he said.

Other stakeholders, including Mr. Adewale Daniel, General Secretary of Peace CDA; Elder P.O. Adetola of Peace CDA; and Mr. Segun Adegbuyi, PRO of Joy Estate, echoed similar sentiments.

They praised the Office of Rural Development for responding to the community’s needs, noting that the project would ease the burden on women, children, and the elderly who bear the brunt of water shortages.

Community members also highlighted the importance of the generator support, which they said would ensure the sustainability of the project, preventing frequent interruptions caused by irregular power supply.

With this latest commissioning, Lugbusi joins other rural communities in Ikorodu Division benefiting from Governor Sanwo-Olu’s grassroots development projects, which have included road rehabilitation, electrification, and community health interventions.
