A new chapter opened in the administrative journey of Ikorodu GRA Phase 2 on Saturday, October 4, 2025, as residents gathered at the Zone B residential area to witness the inauguration of a new executive committee of the Community Development Association (CDA), tagged “The New Dawn Team.”

The event, which drew community members, stakeholders, and guests, symbolized a peaceful transition and renewed commitment to unity and development within the estate.

The outgoing transition committee, headed by Engr. Okiti Akpor, formally handed over to the incoming executives, praising them as a team with “clear vision and genuine zeal to advance collective progress.”

The new leadership team is made up of Mr. Lateef Abass (Chairman), Mr. Atapa Olalekan (Vice Chairman), Mr. Benjamin Nwudu (Secretary), Mr. Hussein Saheed Omotayo (Assistant Secretary), Mr. Adetola Idris (Treasurer), Mr. Hakeem Bello (Financial Secretary), Omoba Peju Akinyemi (Public Relations Officer), Mr. Femi Kazeem Adelowo (Welfare Officer), and Mr. Akpovi Oghale (Social Director).

In attendance were notable personalities including Hon. Jessica Oba, Leader of the House, Ikorodu West LCDA, and Baale Chief Sulaimon Oladapo Ojebiyi.

Both dignitaries commended the smooth leadership transition and encouraged the new team to consolidate on the achievements of their predecessors while maintaining harmony and inclusivity in community governance.

In his inaugural address, the new chairman, Mr. Lateef Abass, expressed gratitude to residents for their confidence and trust.

He also paid tribute to the outgoing executives, led by Mr. Jimmy Animashaun, for their years of selfless service and foundational work which, he noted, strengthened the CDA’s administrative framework.

“Your commitment and sacrifices have laid a strong foundation upon which we intend to build greater progress,” Abass said.

“Our pledge as the New Dawn Team is to operate with transparency, inclusiveness, and shared vision for the good of all residents.”

Reaffirming his dedication to open and participatory leadership, Abass assured residents that his administration would focus on collective development and welfare-driven policies.

He emphasized that the executive team was fully aware of residents’ expectations and would channel its energy toward uniting the community and fostering sustainable growth.

“We are humbled by the magnitude of responsibility placed on our shoulders,” he remarked.

“This is a partnership for progress, and together with your support, we shall make Ikorodu GRA Phase 2 a model CDA in Lagos State.”

Abass also revealed that his team would prioritize transparent communication between residents and the CDA leadership to strengthen trust and accountability.

He identified five crucial sectors that would form the core of the administration’s agenda — Security, Road Infrastructure, Electricity, Environmental Management, and Welfare — all aimed at improving the quality of life within the estate.

The inauguration ceremony concluded on a hopeful note, as residents and guests applauded the new leadership’s vision and expressed confidence that the New Dawn Team would promote unity, transparency, and sustainable development within Ikorodu GRA Phase 2.
