LIONS CLUB EMPOWERS YOUNG GIRLS TO ‘SOAR BEYOND LIMITS’ IN CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, District 404A3 Nigeria, joined the global celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child with an inspiring and impactful event held on October 7, 2025, at Jobade School, GSM Bus-Stop, Itokin Road, Ikorodu.

Themed “If I Were A Leader,” the program focused on nurturing leadership qualities among young girls, recognizing their potential, and inspiring them to dream beyond societal limits.

The event’s highlights revolved around key areas including recognizing girls’ leadership, celebrating resilience, promoting girl-led solutions, addressing challenges faced by the girl child, empowerment and action, and amplifying girls’ voices.

Each segment aimed to emphasize the crucial role girls play in shaping a better, more inclusive society.

Lion Oshodi Seyi Paul, President of the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, commended the participating students for their creativity, courage, and leadership spirit displayed during the program.

He reiterated the Club’s commitment to promoting education and equal opportunities for girls, describing them as “leaders of today whose ambitions must be nurtured to soar beyond limits.”

Also in attendance were prominent members of the Club including Lion Aluko Kayode, Lion Alapafuja Fuad, and Lion Ganiyat Oshodi, who collectively encouraged the girls to embrace confidence, education, and service to humanity as tools for impactful leadership.

Through interactive discussions, motivational talks, and creative presentations by students, the event reinforced the importance of empowering young girls to speak up, take initiative, and believe in their ability to effect positive change.

The celebration not only honored the International Day of the Girl Child but also reaffirmed the Lions Club’s dedication to community development, gender equality, and youth empowerment — key pillars of the Lions’ global humanitarian mission.

The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club continues to set a strong example of how community-based organisations can inspire transformation by investing in the leadership potential of the next generation.
