
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, through the Office of Rural Development, has flagged off the construction of the 360-metre Ladejobi–Ita Ajele Road in Ikorodu to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth within the community.
The flag-off ceremony, held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, was presided over by Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, who described the project as a testament to the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to rural infrastructure and community development.
Dr. Agbaje explained that the road, measuring 360 metres in length and 7.3 metres in width, will feature asphalt surfacing, covered drainage on both sides, and solar-powered streetlights to enhance safety and aesthetics upon completion.
He further revealed that the project is expected to be completed within six months, urging residents to support the contractors and ensure the work proceeds without hindrance.
“This road construction is going to enhance the economic activities of the community once completed. We appeal to residents to cooperate with the government and contractors to ensure seamless execution,” Dr. Agbaje stated.
Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, representing Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for bringing yet another developmental project to Ikorodu.
He noted that the initiative reflects the governor’s consistent effort to deliver the dividends of democracy across the state.
Similarly, the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Adedayo Ladega, lauded the state government for its continuous investment in rural infrastructure.
He particularly praised the Office of Rural Development, led by Dr. Agbaje, for what he described as “commendable performance in driving community-focused projects.”
The project contractor, Mr. Adeniji Rasheed, assured residents of quality delivery and urged community members to cooperate fully during the construction period.
Speaking on behalf of the host community, Chief Osho Tajudeen Adisa, CDA Chairman of Yewa Community, expressed appreciation to the state government, calling the project “timely and essential for the socio-economic growth of the region.”
Other dignitaries at the event included Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, represented by Engr. Momoh Afeez; Mr. Babatunde Durojaiye, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor; Alhaji Olukotun Ibrahim, Baale of Aga; councillors from Ikorodu Local Government; Alhaja Ishola Kudirat, Mr. Olusoga Osunyomi, and several community stakeholders.
The Ladejobi–Ita Ajele Road construction is one among a series of rural infrastructure projects initiated by the Sanwo-Olu administration across Lagos State, aimed at improving road connectivity, easing transportation, and fostering economic development at the grassroots level.
