The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega, on Friday, October 10, 2025, warmly received dignitaries and mental health advocates at the 2025 World Mental Health Day celebration, jointly organised by the Orunsii Wellcare Foundation and the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State.
The event, held at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, highlighted the global theme, “Mental Health in Humanitarian Emergencies,” and brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, traditional rulers, religious figures, civic leaders, and representatives of community-based organisations—all united in promoting mental wellness and social inclusion.
In attendance was the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, whose presence added prestige to the occasion. Also present were Chairmen from LCDAs within Ikorodu Division, top officials from Ikorodu General Hospital, and senior council executives led by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Babawale Alogba.
In his address, Hon. Ladega expressed profound gratitude to the First Lady for her consistent advocacy on mental health, women’s empowerment, and child welfare across Lagos State. He described her as a compassionate leader whose initiatives have continued to foster hope and strengthen family and community values.
Hon. Ladega reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting emotional and mental well-being under the S.E.E.D. Agenda—focusing on Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare, and Development—in alignment with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda for sustainable governance.
He emphasised that mental health is a cornerstone of community resilience, stating that the local government remains steadfast in building a supportive environment where residents can thrive physically, mentally, and socially.
The 2025 World Mental Health Day programme further underscored Ikorodu Local Government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, healthy society where mental wellness is prioritised alongside social and economic development.
