FIRST LADY, DR. (MRS.) CLAUDIANA SANWO-OLU LEADS COWLSO PRE-CONFERENCE AWARENESS WALK IN IKORODU — INSPIRES WOMEN TO “STEP UP, SHOW UP, NEVER GIVE UP” ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, led an inspiring Pre-Conference Awareness Walk in Ikorodu ahead of the 25th National Women’s Conference organized by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), in a display of unity, resilience, and fitness.

The awareness walk, which attracted a vibrant crowd comprising members of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), council chairmen, serving and retired top government officials, as well as the people of Ikorodu, showcased a strong sense of unity and purpose among participants.

The event reflected the collective enthusiasm and commitment of Lagos women and stakeholders toward promoting fitness, wellness, and community engagement.

The walk commenced at the Ebute Dangote Ferry Terminal in Ipakodo, Ikorodu West LCDA, before proceeding through the Ibeshe axis of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA. It concluded along the bustling Ayangburen Road in Ikorodu Central, with participants displaying high energy and excitement throughout the route.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, described the walk as a “spirit of fitness, purpose, and sisterhood,” emphasizing the collective strength and determination of Lagos women.

She noted that the event brought together members of COWLSO, council chairmen, serving and retired government officials, and the good people of Ikorodu Division in anticipation of the landmark conference.

Speaking on this year’s conference theme, “Step Up, Show Up, Never Give Up,” Mrs. Sanwo-Olu urged women across Lagos and beyond to remain steadfast in the face of challenges.

“This year’s theme is a reminder for women to rise up, stay consistent, and remain resilient, no matter the circumstances. As we count down to the 25th National Women’s Conference, let this walk symbolize our collective energy and commitment to building stronger families and communities,” she said.

The 2025 National Women’s Conference is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, October 28 to Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In her remarks, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, wife of Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru representing Lagos East Senatorial District, commended the First Lady for her exemplary leadership and compassionate approach to governance.

She described Mrs. Sanwo-Olu as a beacon of inspiration who continues to advocate for the welfare, empowerment, and health of women across the state.

Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Mojisola Agbaje, wife of the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, who anchored the programme, emphasized Ikorodu’s rich cultural heritage and commended the First Lady’s Stop Tuberculosis Campaign, noting that it has been effectively implemented through the commitment of local council first ladies across Ikorodu Division.

“Her Excellency’s health advocacy, particularly the Stop Tuberculosis initiative, has made a significant impact in our communities.”

“We are proud to host her in Ikorodu, a town rich in heritage and resilience,” Mrs. Agbaje stated.

In his address, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, commended the First Lady for her unwavering commitment to women’s health, empowerment programs, and support for the girl child and vulnerable groups.

“Dr. (Mrs.) Sanwo-Olu has demonstrated an exceptional passion for the wellbeing of Lagosians through numerous health schemes and empowerment initiatives.”

“Her presence in Ikorodu today reinforces the message of inclusion and community development,” Hon. Olanrewaju remarked.

The awareness walk was characterized by colorful displays, fitness routines, and enthusiastic participation from women’s groups, youth organizations, and public officials, all echoing the message of resilience and collective growth ahead of the prestigious COWLSO conference.

As the countdown to the 25th National Women’s Conference continues, the First Lady’s call to “Step Up, Show Up, and Never Give Up” resonates powerfully—reminding women across Lagos State that their strength, unity, and determination remain vital to the state’s progress.
