Members of the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, District 404A3 Nigeria, gathered recently at Rica Hotel Odogunyan, Ikorodu, for an insightful workshop themed “Let Us Strive to Be Better People and Not Waste Our Food,” in commemoration of the World Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day.
The awareness workshop was designed to sensitize participants on the growing global concern of food wastage and the importance of sustainable consumption habits in households and communities.
The event emphasized that millions of people worldwide still go hungry daily, even as tons of edible food are discarded unnecessarily.
In attendance were notable members of the club, including Lion Oshodi Paul, Lion Sanusi Aminat, Lion Aluko Kayode, Lion Alapafuja Fuad, and Lion Olaniyan Akinlolu, who collectively reinforced the message of moderation, gratitude, and social responsibility.

Speaking at the event, Lion Oshodi Paul, the Club’s President urged individuals and families to adopt better food management practices—such as proper storage, meal planning, and sharing surplus food with those in need—to help reduce waste and promote a culture of compassion within communities.
The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club continues to demonstrate its commitment to community development and humanitarian service through impactful projects and awareness programs.
The club’s active participation in the World Food Loss and Waste Awareness campaign aligns with the Lions Clubs International’s global goal of fighting hunger and promoting environmental sustainability.
