FORMER IKORODU LG CHAIRMAN, HON. WASIU ADESINA, HONOURS POLITICAL MENTORS BASORUN AND OGUNLEYE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The former Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, on Friday, October 17, 2025, paid tribute to two of Ikorodu’s most revered political icons — Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, a member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), and Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and fellow GAC member — in a heartfelt gesture celebrating mentorship and leadership.

The honour courtesy visitation, held in Ikorodu, symbolised Adesina’s deep sense of gratitude for the mentorship, guidance, and fatherly support both elder statesmen have extended to him throughout his political career and tenure as council chairman.

The visit was graced by the presence of distinguished personalities, including Alhaji Yusuf Olanrewaju, Hon. Banwo, Hon. Lateef Afinni (former Secretary to the Local Government), and Alhaja Rasheedat Bello, the APC Ikorodu Divisional Woman Leader, among several others who joined in acknowledging the moment of appreciation.

Expressing his appreciation, Hon. Adesina acknowledged the pivotal roles Bashorun and Ogunleye played in shaping his political journey.

He praised their wisdom, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the growth and stability of Ikorodu’s political landscape.

As part of the presentation, Adesina also handed over a Letter of Appreciation to Asiwaju Basorun, describing him as a pillar of guidance and an embodiment of selfless leadership.

Responding, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun commended Adeshina for his loyalty, diligence, and contributions to the development of Ikorodu, noting that his administration reflected dedication and purpose-driven governance.

“Adesina is a leader with foresight and commitment,” he said, urging him to continue upholding humility and service in his political journey.

In his remarks, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye applauded the former council boss for his impressive record of achievements and encouraged him to remain steadfast in his pursuit of Ikorodu’s progress.

“Leadership does not end with tenure,” he remarked.

“It continues through consistent impact and service to humanity.”

The visitation also featured the presentation of Adesina’s biography, a publication capturing his years of public service, political achievements, and contributions to community development across Ikorodu.

Attendees lauded Hon. Adesina’s humility and sense of gratitude — qualities they regarded as essential for fostering unity and sustaining continuity within the political framework of Ikorodu Division, as the ceremony radiated an air of admiration and respect.
