The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club today executed a highly impactful Breast Cancer Awareness Project at the Isiu Health Centre, Ikorodu, aimed at educating residents on early detection, prevention, and treatment options for the disease, in commemoration of the global fight against breast cancer.

The sensitization program was organized as part of the club’s ongoing health outreach initiatives to promote wellness and support communities in the Ikorodu Division.

Health experts and Lions members addressed participants on the importance of regular breast self-examinations, clinical screenings, and maintaining healthy lifestyles to reduce cancer risks.

Leading the project were notable members of the club, including Lion Aluko Kayode, Immediate Past President, Lion Sanusi Aminat, Lion Alapafuja Fuad, and Leo Gbemisola, who all emphasized the need for continuous health education and early diagnosis as the best tools for saving lives.

During the outreach, the club reiterated its commitment to humanitarian service, particularly in the areas of health awareness and disease prevention.

It emphasised that breast cancer, when detected early, is treatable, and encouraged women to take advantage of local health facilities for regular screenings.

Participants expressed appreciation to the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club for bringing the initiative to their community, describing it as timely and life-saving.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Project at Isiu Health Centre is part of the Lions Club’s October Service Month activities, aligning with the global observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which seeks to reduce mortality rates through awareness, advocacy, and early intervention.

Through projects like this, the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club continues to uphold the Lions International vision of serving humanity and promoting healthy living across communities.
