Residents of Odogunyan and Agbede in Ikorodu North and Ikorodu West Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos East Senatorial District were filled with excitement on Friday as Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, officially flagged off the construction of two major access roads in their communities.
The projects — Ojuemuren Road in Odogunyan and Ebuwawa Road in Agbede — are part of ongoing infrastructural interventions aimed at improving connectivity, stimulating economic activities, and enhancing the overall living conditions in the rapidly developing axis of Ikorodu.
Represented by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to sustainable grassroots development through strategic investments in human capital and infrastructure across the district.

“These projects stem from our collective vision to promote inclusive and sustainable community development. We have listened to the needs of our people and worked tirelessly to make this intervention a reality,” Abiru said.
“Over the past years, we have executed numerous constituency projects — including road constructions, classroom blocks, healthcare centres, solar-powered street lights, markets, electricity transformers, and sports arenas — all aimed at improving the quality of life of our people.”
The flag-off ceremony drew a large crowd of enthusiastic residents, traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders, who hailed Senator Abiru for what they described as a model of responsive and impactful representation.

Colorful banners lined the streets, bearing messages of appreciation to the senator for bringing tangible development to their communities.
Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Ibrahim Apanishile, applauded Senator Abiru for the intervention, describing it as a “transformative project” that would significantly improve economic activities and property values in the area.
“Our people have endured years of hardship due to the deplorable state of these roads. Senator Abiru has not only listened — he has acted decisively. This is the kind of leadership our people deserve,” Apanishile stated.
Similarly, Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, expressed gratitude to Senator Abiru for his consistency in delivering development projects across the district, citing several completed roads, including Apnea Jimbo, Odediran, Ibu-Owo, and Ojokoro roads.

“The Senator’s impact is visible in every corner of Lagos East. His commitment to improving infrastructure is unmatched,” Olanrewaju added.
Community representatives also expressed heartfelt appreciation. The United Joint Chairman of Odogunyan, Mr. Lucky Oluku, described the flag-off as a long-awaited relief for residents.
“Today’s event marks a turning point for our community. The Ojuemuren–Agbede road project is not just an infrastructure upgrade — it is a symbol of renewed hope for our people,” he said.
For residents, the project brings practical benefits. Mrs. Nneka Obazi, a trader in Agbede, noted that the new road would reduce transportation costs and vehicle maintenance expenses.
“Before now, we spent heavily repairing our vehicles due to the bad road. With this new development, business will thrive and customers will find it easier to access our market,” she said.

A commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Taofeek Bello, shared similar sentiments, saying the project would ease movement and cut travel time.
“We’ve prayed for this road for years. Senator Abiru has done what others only promised,” he remarked.
Dignitaries in attendance included Alhaji Rilwan Jinadu, Alhaji Musiliu Adewale Sulaimon (Ola-4), Hon. Kunle Ogunbela, pioneer chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Toyin Salau, JP, Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, Prince Adedoyin Ogunbiyi (Jokotex), Hon. Kazeem Showemimo, and Ms. Comfort Olafare, alongside community leaders, members of various Community Development Associations (CDAs), and executives of the Community Development Committee (CDC).

Members of Senator Abiru’s team and the East Consultative Forum (ECF) were also present.
