The entire group of councillors from Ikorodu Constituency II paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, at his office recently, in a show of commitment to grassroots development and effective representation.
The visit, led by Hon. Adeshina Ademola Oluwole, the newly elected Chairman of the Ikorodu Division Councillors’ Forum and Leader of the Legislative Arm in Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), was primarily aimed at presenting the councillors’ collective plans and proposals ahead of the 2026 fiscal budget.
According to Hon. Adeshina, the delegation deemed it necessary to engage Dr. Agbaje at this stage to ensure that their developmental priorities align with the broader objectives of the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
He emphasized that the councillors are determined to use their legislative influence to promote initiatives that will directly improve the living standards of residents within their respective wards.
“We are here not only to pay homage but to lay out our strategic plans as representatives of the people.”
“Our goal is to ensure that the 2026 budget reflects the true needs of our communities — from rural electrification and road rehabilitation to youth empowerment and health infrastructure,” Hon. Adeshina stated.
In his response, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje commended the councillors for their proactive approach and sense of responsibility.
He lauded the unity displayed by the Ikorodu Constituency II councillors, noting that such collaboration between local legislators and the state government is crucial for sustainable rural development.
Dr. Agbaje reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to continuous infrastructural and rural advancement across all communities, stressing that the Governor’s THEMES Plus Agenda continues to prioritize development that touches lives at the grassroots.
He also assured the councillors of his office’s readiness to collaborate and integrate their proposals into the ongoing rural development framework, particularly in areas such as road construction, power supply improvement, and community-based empowerment programs.
