Iradelu Itesiwaju Community Development Association (CDA) in Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has received a brand new transformer from the Lagos State Government under its Rural Electrification Initiative, powered by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration, in a remarkable step toward improving electricity supply in rural communities.

The transformer, which was delivered on Wednesday, 29th October 2025, marks a major milestone for the residents of Iradelu Itesiwaju phase one and two, who have endured over three decades of power challenges.

Speaking during the handover, Mr. Jimoh Sanmi, Chairman of Iradelu Itesiwaju CDA, expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for the life-changing intervention. He described the development as a long-awaited dream finally realized.

“The month of October makes it exactly 30 years since our community began clamouring for its own transformer. Today, our story has changed for the better.”

“We sincerely appreciate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for fulfilling his promise to rural communities like ours,” Mr. Sanmi stated.

The CDA chairman also extended gratitude to Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, for his instrumental role in ensuring that the community’s request received prompt attention.

He noted that following the submission of their letter of request, Dr. Agbaje personally inspected the community to confirm its eligibility for the transformer, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to equitable rural development.

“We are particularly grateful to Dr. Agbaje for not just receiving our letter but for visiting our community to assess our needs.”

“His action reaffirmed our confidence in this administration’s people-centered approach,” he added.

In his remarks, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje reaffirmed the Sanwo-Olu administration’s  commitment to ensuring that no rural community in Lagos is left behind in infrastructural development and access to basic amenities.

“The Governor has given a clear directive that every community, no matter how remote, must feel the impact of government,” Dr. Agbaje said.

“Electricity is the lifeblood of development, and we are determined to connect more communities to the grid so they can thrive socially and economically.”

“This transformer for Iradelu Itesiwaju CDA represents another promise kept by the Sanwo-Olu administration.”

The Special Adviser further assured residents that the Office of Rural Development will continue to monitor the progress of the electrification project to ensure proper installation and long-term functionality of the transformer.

The transformer donation is part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing Rural Electrification Project, aimed at bridging the power gap across underserved communities, promoting economic growth, and enhancing living standards for residents.

Residents of Iradelu Itesiwaju CDA, present during the transformer delivery, expressed optimism that the installation of the new transformer would boost commercial activities, enhance security, and promote overall community development.
