Ikorodu, Lagos – November 2025,
Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, and Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, received an appreciation visit from Bldr. (Dr.) Adeola Adebisi Banjo, the immediate past Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in a display of gratitude, humility, and enduring friendship.
The visit, which formed part of Bldr. Banjo’s ongoing appreciation tour across Ikorodu Division, symbolized unity and mutual respect among grassroots leaders. It was also a platform to celebrate shared experiences in leadership and reaffirm collective commitment to community development.
During the visit, Dr. Banjo presented each of the council bosses with a specially designed commemorative frame titled “Towards a Legacy of Peace, Prosperity, and Hope for All.”
The gesture, according to him, was an expression of gratitude and a reminder of the shared responsibility of public servants to build legacies of service and compassion.
Reflecting on his journey and the bonds formed during his tenure, Dr. Banjo described leadership as “one of the greatest gifts a person can be entrusted with.”
He praised both chairmen for their dedication and resilience in governance, adding that true leadership “is not about sitting at the head of a table, but having the heart to serve at the feet of others.”
He further emphasized that leadership must be rooted in sincerity, empathy, and service, describing it as both a duty and a divine calling.
“Leadership is not the search for power; it is the fulfillment of purpose,” Dr. Banjo stated. “Every road you fix, every market you touch, every youth you empower, every mother you help — all these are acts of worship when done with sincerity.”
Dr. Banjo urged his colleagues to continue leading with compassion and integrity, reminding them that “the people are not subjects to be managed but souls to be uplifted.”
He also offered prayers for their continued success and fulfillment in office.
“May your leadership become a light that guides, heals, and inspires,” he prayed.
“When your time in office is remembered, may it be said that you led with grace, served with truth, and left your people better than you found them.”
In her heartfelt response, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba of Ijede LCDA expressed deep appreciation for the visit, describing it as “overwhelming and inspiring.”
“Banjo is not just a senior colleague — he’s a father, he’s a brother, he’s very, very good,” she said.
“I’m the youngest among everyone, but they did not put me in that level. And I also thank your wife for accepting me.”
Gbadebo-Alogba highlighted Bldr. Banjo’s humility and mentorship as defining qualities of his leadership, noting that his visit was a lesson in gratitude and reflection.
“It is really inspiring,” she added. “It’s also another lesson for me because being out of office is actually another journey entirely.”
Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem of Ikorodu West LCDA also reacted with affection and admiration, describing Bldr. Banjo as a true friend and exemplary leader.
“Before politics, you have been my friend. After I am 100 years old, you will still be my friend,” he said.
“You have been so kind to us. You have shown me an example of being a leader. You have shown me a way of serving.”
The appreciation visit reaffirmed Bldr. Banjo’s reputation as a bridge-builder and advocate of collaborative governance.
